It may come as some surprise to you but there are only 2 public squash courts remaining in the city of Oxford. These are located at Ferry Leisure Centre in Summertown – OX2 7DP.
Following a discussion with the Centre Management, a few initiatives are being embarked upon:
-
Prices have been reduced to £10.00 per court. This is for a one hour duration and courts can be booked via the Ferry website. Go to https://www.oxfordcityleisure.com/ferry-leisure-centre/memberships/ and scroll down to Free Annual Membership. Once you have registered there, follow the instructions and you can then book courts on a Pay as You Go basis.
-
There will be Club Nights free of charge from 6 to 8pm every Friday for the foreseeable future. These are open to all levels of players and commence this Friday, the 18th July.
-
Very soon, the Ferry Squash Boxes will re-start. A gentleman called Tom Scholes will be running them. Feel free to conatct him on [email protected] if you wish to sign up
These courts are in very good nick having recently been refurbished. Oxford City Council is committed to maintaining Squash facilities and perhaps now we are seeing initiatives which will increase the uptake. I believe more are planned but at least this is a start.
